Cause of death: Killed in action, Lancaster EE172, (Operation Gomorrah) was attacked by a German night-fighter and crashed near Wohnste, south-west of Hamburg. All the crew died in the crash. [1][2] Shot down, a pathfinder pilot on secondment to RAF. [3]
